What does it mean to belong? A musical play inspired by 11 poems written by Vigo County middle schoolers.
Performances of eleven poems about belonging and not belonging written by middle school students in Vigo County. The selected middle school poems were written for the Max Ehrmann Poetry Contest administered by Art Spaces and the Community School for the Arts. Production conceptualized and music composed by Bryant Clayton. Directed by Arthur Feinsod. Theater 7 will tour the Vigo County middle schools through 2016-2017 school year, co-sponsored by Indiana State University Bayh College of Education.

"I have worked with lost children for over 30 years. Many children grow up feeling lost, labelled and inferior. “Here in the Universe” speaks directly to those children. After Theater 7’s premiere performance at Ryves Youth Center many children spoke to me about what they had witnessed. Words such as "touching" and "important" were often used. It was clear to me that after watching “Here in the Universe” our children felt that they were not alone and that they could have a voice in this world."

“My feelings in watching the playing went from sad to safe.” -13 year old about to enter 8th grade
